Build a dream and sail through the wind and waves

Dear leaders, teachers and schoolmates:

Good morning!

I am Zhang Yiyang from Class 1 of the Plant Science and Technology major of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Biotechnology in 2023. It is my great honor to stand here today and speak as a representative of the freshmen.

Time flies, the years flow by. Looking back on the past 18 years, we have fought and fought for our ideals on the battlefield of the college entrance examination, writing the next segment for our brave youth. Looking forward to the road ahead, with infinite longing for our future life and the earnest instructions of our loved ones, we have enthusiastically knocked on the door of Southwest University in order to continue writing a touching chapter on this new journey and starting point.

“To care about agriculture, rural areas and farmers, and stand upright’’ is the purpose of our college. "A strong country must first strengthen its agriculture, and only by strong agriculture can the country be strong." We know that building an agricultural power is a desirable picture of "three farmers" in the blueprint of modernization of a big country, and it is a clarion call of The Times that urges people to forge ahead on the land of ancient China. Deeply influenced and inspired by the older generation of agronomists such as Yuan Longping, we come from all over the world，with the love of agronomy and botany, with the feelings and responsibilities of learning agriculture, loving agriculture, knowing agriculture, strengthening agriculture and promoting agriculture, jointly choose the major of plant science and technology.

Different from other majors under the College of Agronomy and Biotechnology, our major was jointly established with Missouri State University in the United States, aiming to serve the national strategy of opening to the outside world and cultivate a new generation talent in the field of Plant Science and Technology with a broad international perspective. One-to-one academic tutor system, bilingual and full English teaching and rich scientific research training provide us with superior learning resources and conditions. In the past years, some outstanding seniors of Plant Science major have won national and school-level scholarships. They have been featured in well-known domestic and foreign journals, various innovations, and entrepreneurship projects for college students and so on. This is a good example set by the senior students of the plant science major. As new student in the field, we should learn from their valuable experience, make full use of the domestic and international educational resources provided by the school, make a good plan for our own development, comprehensively exercise and improve our abilities in all aspects, and achieve our expected goals.

Everything in the past is a prologue. In the past, we sweated profusely on the road of seeking knowledge, cut through thorns and walked through thousands of rivers and mountains, and now, we still need to trek through mountains and rivers to carry on and open up the future. Here, we will strive to write a brilliant new chapter in our lives.

"Don’t stop chasing the wind and the moon. There are spring mountains everywhere. "Dear schoolmates, we are now in the most beautiful stage of life, we must not only learn to look up at the stars, but also study hard and keep growing. We should make full use of the learning resources provided by schools and colleges, earnestly learn professional knowledge, master professional skills, seize the opportunity to participate in social practice, and improve our language ability, cultivate an international perspective at the same time, to prepare for future study abroad or further education.

We come from all over the world and meet because of a common choice. And we believe that the bright road of the future will slowly unfold under our feet. Today we walk into the gate of Southwest University together, where there are excellent teachers, leaders, and enthusiastic seniors, we must keep the school motto in mind, be determined to become talents, and win glory for the school!

Finally, it is a great pleasure to get acquainted with all of you in the major of plant Science and technology at Southwest University, and spend the next four years together. Wishing all of us  would gain joy and dreams in the future study and life, and meet better ourselves at Southwest University!

2023级植物科学与技术（中外合作办学）张依杨

尊敬的各位领导、老师，亲爱的同学们：

大家上午好！

我是来自ok138cn太阳集团古天乐2023级植物科学与技术专业1班的张依杨，很荣幸今天能够站在这里作为新生代表发言。

时光不居，岁月如流。回首十八载，我们为了理想奋斗拼搏在高考的战场上，用汗水书写下一段无悔的青春；展望眼前路，我们怀着对未来生活的无限憧憬，带着亲人的殷殷嘱托，为了在这新征程、新起点上续写动人的篇章，我们饱含热情地敲开了西南大学的大门！

“心系三农，顶天立地”，这是我们ok138cn太阳集团古天乐的学院精神。“强国必先强农，农强方能国强”，我们深知，建设农业强国是大国现代化蓝图中令人向往的“三农”画卷，是古老中华大地上催人奋进的时代号角。深受袁隆平等老一辈农学家的感染与鼓舞，来自五湖四海的我们，带着对农学、植物学的热爱，怀着学农爱农，知农为农，强农兴农的情怀与担当，共同选择了植物科学与技术专业。

不同于ok138cn太阳集团古天乐下设的其他专业，我们专业是与美国密苏里州立大学联合创办的，旨在服务国家对外开放战略、培养具有宽广国际视野的植物科学技术领域新时代人才。完善的一对一学业导师制度，双语和全英文授课以及丰富的科研训练为我们提供了优越的学习资源和条件。过去几年，植科专业有多位优秀的学长学姐荣获了国家级和校级奖学金，不管是国内外知名期刊还是各类大学生创新创业项目，都有他们优秀的身影。这是植科专业学长学姐为我们树立的良好榜样，我们作为植科专业的新生，更应该学习他们的宝贵经验，充分利用好学校给我们提供的国内国际教育资源，做好自身发展规划，全面锻炼和提升自己各方面能力，实现自己预期的目标。

凡是过往，皆为序章。过去，我们在求知的大道上挥汗如雨、披荆斩棘，走过万水千山，现在，我们仍需跋山涉水，继往开来。在这里，我们将奋力书写人生中绚丽辉煌的新篇。

“追风赶月莫停留，平芜尽处是春山”，亲爱的同学们，我们正处在人生最美好的阶段，我们不仅要学会仰望星空，更要脚踏实地的刻苦学习，不断成长。我们要充分利用好学校和学院提供给我们的学习资源，认真学习专业知识，掌握专业技能，抓住机会投身社会实践，同时提高自己的语言能力，培养国际视野，为将来无论是出国留学还是继续深造做好准备。

我们从天南地北而来，因为一个共同的选择而相遇，相信未来的光明之路会在我们脚下徐徐铺展。同学们，今天我们共同走进了西南大学的校门，这里有着优秀的老师，领导，和热心的学长学姐，我们要谨记校训，牢记院训，立志成才，为校争光！

    最后，很高兴与诸位相识于西南大学植物科学与技术专业，共同度过未来的四载春秋。预祝全体同学在未来的学习生活中收获喜悦，收获梦想，在西南大学遇见更优秀的自己！
